Royal Distributing-Factory Recreation Rockstar Energy Race Report

Round 2 Canadian Snowcross Championships - CSRA Event - Rouyan Noranda , QC

Jan 16, 2011

Rouyan Noranda , QC

The Royal Distributing Rockstar Energy team absolutely dominated the entire
weekend as the CSRA rolled through Quebec, nailing holeshot after holeshot
and completing a virtual sweep of the Pro and Semi pro classes. The teams
confidence remains sky-high as they prepare for this weekend's National race
in Lindsay, ON.

In the Pro ranks, Saturdays moto heats saw Dave Joanis win the holeshots and
win both motos. Daves well tuned SkiDoo XP powered to holeshots and Dave won
the races flawlessly. Royal Semi-Pro Rider Dylan hall pulled double duty on
the weekend and rode the Pro classes to see how he would measure up on the
tricky Rouyan Noranda track. Dylan came home second in his first heat,
following only the dominate 115 of Joanis. In Saturdays Pro Open final,
Dave once again nailed the holeshot and rode a perfect race all the way to
the checkered flag!

In Sunday's Pro Open heats, Joanis was perfect on the line once again and
powered his XP to holeshots and rode them right through to the checkered
flag. Dylan once again proved he could ride with the big boys as he worked
his way second place finishes in both his motos. In Sundays final Dave once
again showed everyone his taillight to the first corner, only to be caught
up and knocked off track. Joanis remounted and passed most of the field on
the tight track to work his way back up to finish fourth. Not a bad weekend
for the #115 of Joanis, six races, six holeshots and five wins! Dylan Hall
held on to finish third in Sundays Pro Open final, but the rest of Dylan's
weekend was even more successful.

In the Semi Pro classes Dylan won both his Moto's and finished fifth in the
final after a mishap that caused him to have to work with way through the
field. In Sundays Semi-Pro Open heats, Dylan dominated! He took home both
his moto wins and the final with the smooth riding style that is becoming
his signature. Dylan, like his teammate Dave won five of the six Semi Pro
races he entered over the weekend.

This weekend, Pro Rider Dylan Martin rejoins the team at the Lindsay
National and all three riders and teams are ready to pounce once again.

FLUFFY LOVE

During the 90's, racetrack announcers were determined to turn snocross racing into a professional wrestling spin-off by tagging every professional and even some semi-profresional riders with over the top nicknames. From Captain Kirk and the Flying Finn to Scrap Iron and Monster Mike and many more, the race program looked like a WWE Smack Down event versus a snocross race. In hopes of becoming a much kinder and gentler sport (wink, wink) semi-pro rider Dylan Martin of Team Goodwin Performance is proving to be man enough to carry the "make love not war" torch into the season with the nickname "Fluffy". According to those close to Fluffy Martin, his strenuous Yoga regiment and a diet of granola bars and unfiltered prune juice inspired the name. Aaaaahhhh, we can fell the love already.

He currently rides off road with his family and is new to street riding, but is excited to get on the KTM. Being a motorhead from way back and has owned many classic and performance cars. Bill has taken many years off from power sports to raise his son, who has autism. Bill has another son who helped pick up the 690 Duke at the Whitby store and thought it was very cool! Royal Distributing/Rockstar proudly unveils 2010 CRSA Snowcross Team

115 Dave Joanis

Dave’s ‘09-10 Season ended early due to an injury at the Barrie National Race last year. Dave still finished in 3rd place in Pro Stock and 5th Place in Pro Open Mod due to the very strong start with the speed he displayed last year. Dave is a year older and has been training harder than ever. Dave is very excited to try something new as he debuts on the SkiDoo Rev XP’s this winter. Dave is a former CSRA Semi Pro Champion, and in ‘08-09 Dave finished 2nd overall in National Pro Stock and Pro Open Mod while riding for Royal Distributing as a rookie in the Pro Ranks.

937 Dylan Martin

This ultra fast ISOC rider from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin will be riding the National Pro rounds for Royal Distributing. Dylan brings with him experience in the incredibly competitive ISOC Semi-Pro ranks, with wins and podium finishes. Dylan’s older brother Ross Martin is a multi-time ISOC national champion, and this year Dylan looks to add CSRA Pro Champion to the family’s namesake. Dylan is excited to be flying the Royal-Rockstar colours in Canada this year.

421 Dylan Hall

Dylan’s rookie season in CSRA semi pro provides him with loads of motivation this year as he fell just short of taking home the National Semi Pro Open Mod title, finishing in second place. Dylan tasted victory last season on a few occasions and can’t wait to take the next step to a title. Dylan’s speed combined with his smart and smooth racing has impressed at every level he has raced and won! Look for Dylan’s Rockstar ride at the top of the podium this season.

202 Joey Sagan

Fan favourite Joey is rehabbing an injury from last season, but is hoping to be back on the track later this season. Joey was enjoying his best Pro season ever when a leg injury ended his season prematurely. The entire Royal/Rockstar crew is hoping to see Joey back in winning form this season.

The team will be supported by Wayne Legge and Sean Gibson, and will be pitting out a beautiful new Hall Transport hauler.

Special Thanks to Rockstar Energy, SkiDoo, FXR, Hall Transport and Factory Recreation.

Mission One Street Superbike: Worlds Fastest Electric Motorcycle Title Revoked!

It wasn’t too long back that I wrote about the British built TTX01 GP electric super streetbike as becoming the fastest production electric motorcycle out there with a top speed of 125mph and a range of 50 miles. The new Mission One electric motorcycle pretty much blows that away. Based in San Francisco, Mission Motors developed an all new (as opposed to being built on a previous model frame, like the TTX01 GP) frame that is pretty darn sexy.

The Mission One has a range of 150 miles and has a top speed of 150mph. So, theoretically, you could just pin it at top speed for one hour and travel 150 miles. Once you exhaust battery power, all it takes is a 2 hour wait time (long enough for a leisurely lunch at the mountain top cafe) to fully recharge your batteries using a 240v power source. Forrest North, the founder of Mission Motors, is a former Tesla employee who began work on converting a gas-powered Ducati motorcycle into an electric bike. His overall goal was to combine the performance of a superbike with a green, environmentally friendly zero emission motorbike. I would say he succeeded with flying colors. I am a little wary of the triangular side work, and the stinger-tail seat, but it is nonetheless beautiful still.

Built with lithium-ion batteries powering an electric induction motor, the result is an on-demand 100+ foot-pounds of torque for insane acceleration and throttle feel. They didn’t skimp on components either, Brembo 4-piston calipers and Ohlins shocks suspension are a nod to their earlier works with Ducati street bikes. Targeting affluent green motorists, the first 50 limited-edition Mission Ones are likely to sell for $68,995 with a more budget-minded version debuting this summer.

Valentino Rossi undergoes surgery on broken leg

Mugello MotoGP: Valentino Rossi undergoes surgery on broken leg

By Matthew Birt - MotoGP

05 June 2010 14:55

Valentino Rossi is undergoing an operation on the right leg he broke in a huge practice crash at the Mugello circuit earlier today.

The reigning world champion had further checks on his damaged leg at the Careggi Hospital Emergency Centre in Florence having been flown by helicopter from the Mugello circuit.

And it was decided to operate immediately on the broken tibia (shinbone) that is likely to keep Rossi out of action until August.

Rossi suffered a huge high-side at the first part of the fast Biondetti chicane and the incident has killed off his hopes of winning the MotoGP crown for a third successive season in 2010.

Initial reports are that Rossi could miss the next six races and return for the Czech Republic GP at Brno on August 15.

But some sources are saying Rossi might even wait to return at his home race in Misano in early September with fears he could be sidelined for three months.
The injury will end Rossi’s proud record of never missing a race in his career that started way back in 1996.

Tomorrow’s Italian MotoGP race will be the first time in 231 races that Rossi has not started.

Season Wrap Up! Another Title Season for Butler!

April 30, 2010

With the early spring weather, the final National Event at Horseshoe Valley resort had to be cancelled. Royal-Rockstar’s Lee Butler held a commanding lead in the National Pro Stock Standings. Butler was tied in Points with Iain Hayden in the National Pro Open standings. Due to the fact that Lee had two National victories to Hayden’s one, Lee Was declared the Open National Champion. Lee and the entire team would have preferred to settle the Championship on the racetrack, but the weather would not co-operate. Lee took some injury licks this season and rode through them to the titles and numerous moto and final wins and podiums.

Overall the season was a season of successes, marred by some tough racing luck. Lee Butler took home the National Titles in both Pro Stock and Pro Open, as well as the regional Pro Open Championship. Lee faced some time injured from a bad jump in Sarnia and was forced to starts only in Kirkland Lake. Rookie Semi-Pro rider Dylan Hall was 2nd In the National Semi-Pro Open Mod Championship and 5th in National Semi-Pro Stock title chase. Dylan was not without hardware, and he brought home the Regional Semi-Pro Open Mod title as well. Overall the team hauled in 4 championships and was 2nd in 3 more of the 8 premier championship titles. Dylan Hall will be a force and title contender in the Semi-Pro ranks in 2011.

Joey Sagan had his best start to the season in his career, winning the season opener in Searchmont, and following it up with a pair of seconds the next week in Gaylord, MI. Joey was hurt in Owen Sound, and fought his way back to race the next couple races. In Barrie, ON Joey suffered a season ending injury in a lead pack crash in a Pro Open heat moto race. Even Joey’s incredible determination and dedication could not overcome the leg injury and he was forced to the sidelines for the remainder of the season.

Late in the season, Royal invited ISOC pro Steve Taylor to run some races on the vacant Sagan race sleds. Taylor put in some strong runs and kept the sponsors logos on the podium! Steve won Pro Stock in Sarnia, and then followed it up with a win in Pro Open Mod in Kitchener and a solid 4th in Pro Stock.

The Royal Distributing Rockstar Factory Recreation crew will be at the CSRA banquet May 14th to collect the hardware!

Royal Distributing would like to thank all our amazing sponsors for a great year:
